  1. Yes I agree, when you are laid off is the best time to learn a new skill. There is usually a lot of funding for these type classes. You have to be careful though, to not get into a field that is too difficult, intolerable, or just not enjoyable.

  4. They say the medical field is a recession proof job. That would probably be an excellent plan to get some training in that area.
