Paintball game, anyone?

Paintball is an exciting strategy/war game (first played in New Hampshire in 1981) where players compete in teams or individually. In the game, players compete to eliminate opponents by hitting them with capsules containing paint  (referred to as a paintball) from a gas-powered device called a marker. The game is regularly played as a sporting event with worldwide leagues, tournaments, professional teams and players being organized almost everywhere. The game can be played indoors or outdoors in game fields scattered with natural or artificial barriers designed for optimal strategic plays among competitors.

Although a relatively new sports interest in the Philippines, paintball is fast gaining a huge following in the country. Paintball game fields can be seen sprouting like mushrooms everywhere.

And here's good news for local paintball enthusiasts! The second leg of the PAL (Paintball Asia League) Series International Paintball Championships will be held right here in the Philippines!

Dubbed as the UPPIPC 2010 (United Paintballers of the Philippines International Paintball Championship) , the event promises to equal if not surpass the successful  holding of the first leg of the PAL series held last March in Petaya, Thailand which was participated in by various teams from Singapore, Malaysia, India, Iran, Taiwan, Australia, Philippines, and host Thailand.

This second leg will be hosted by local event organizer the United Paintballers of the Philippines and will be held at the Stotsenberg Parade Ground, Clark Field, Philippines from August 19 -22, 2010. It promises to be more exciting and extremely challenging to the participants. The event hopes to attract more paintballers from more countries all over the world. Cash prizes as well as paintball goodies from participating sponsors are up for grabs in this tourney.
